Today’s Reading:  Deut 8:1-20

Some thoughts from today’s reading…

I missed posting the post for last Thursday and Friday, my appologies.  I will go ahead and post today for the readings from those days.  Chapter 8 contains one of my favorite passages to consider.  Verses 2-6, detail for us what God was doing for and to Israel while they were in the wilderness.  God was humbling them through the wilderness wanderings.  He tested them to see what was in their hearts, whether they would keep His commands.  He let them be hungry, feeding them with manna which they had not known of before to teach them that man does not live by bread alone.  Man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.  The Lord during these wanderings was disciplining them.  Thus they are to keep His commands, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.

I have thought about this passage a lot in regard to what we may being taught in our lives.  Do you have hardships?  Are there times where you are “wandering” about in life?  Do you wonder where your next meal is going to come from or how you will pay the bills?  What lessons do we learn during such times?  What lessons ought we to keep from such times?
